My Summary of Christian Doctrine. 1. True Faith in God.

2Ti 1:5  For I recall the sincere faith which is in your heart--a faith which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and then in your mother Eunice, and, I am fully convinced, now dwells in you also.
2Ti 1:6  For this reason let me remind you to rekindle God's gift which is yours through the laying on of my hands.

A Sincere Faith.

sincere  wholehearted, heartfelt, hearty, unfeigned mean genuine in feeling.sincere stresses absence of hypocrisy, feigning,, or any falsifying embellishments or exaggeration. <merriam-webster.com>
This is to be understood of the grace of faith, which was implanted in the heart of Timothy by the Spirit of God, and was genuine and sincere; he believed with the heart unto righteousness; his faith worked by love to God, and Christ, and to his people, and was attended with good works; John Gill

When I think of sincere faith I am reminded of Leanne Heck and her Mum and Dad. They are genuine Gympie Christian Farmers who are without show or fanfare. Their godliness just flows from them without ostentation or hype. What a great family beginning with Grandma Thomas. Their faith in God flows from generation to generation. Thank God for this example of sincere faith in God.

In the Old Testament true faith in God was linked to the fear of God. This true faith is not a feeling of dread, but a reverent regard for God akin to awe,, but coupled with love and confidence.

It is the response of the Old Testament Believer to the revelation of the law of God. In the New Testament the response is not to the Law of God but the Good News of Jesus Christ when He suffered and died on the Cross such a horrendous death, was buried and rose again the third day.
Sincere faith has an understanding of the relationship man has with God. Man is conscious of the absolute Majesty, and infinite power of the Almighty God and his own utter insignificance and absolute helplessness
Louis Berkhof has defined this as a conscious and voluntary relationship to God, which expresses itself in grateful worship and loving service.

The Seat of a sincere faith

This is not a sort of knowledge in the intellect, nor an inner feeling in the emotions. This is not just some moral activity in the will of man.
Real Faith is in the Heart.
Rom 10:9  that if with your mouth you confess Jesus as Lord and in your heart believe that God brought Him back to life, you shall be saved.
Rom 10:10  For with the heart men believe and obtain righteousness, and with the mouth they make confession and obtain salvation.
Out of the heart are the issues of life.
Pro 4:23  Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

True Faith in God involves the whole person, his intellect, his emotions and his whole spiritual life. Jesus came to make us every whit whole. So wholeness not brokenness is the result of sincere faith in God.

Look at these verses and learn to memorize them

Deut 10:12  And now, Israel, what does Jehovah your God ask of you, but to fear Jehovah your God, to walk in all His ways, and to love Him, and to serve Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul,
Deut 10:13  to keep the commandments of Jehovah, and His statutes, which I command you today for your good?

Psa 111:10  The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of wisdom; all practicing them have good understanding; His praise stands forever.

Ecc 12:13  Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter. Fear God, and keep His commandments. For this is the whole duty of man.

Act 16:30  And leading them outside, he said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
Act 16:31  And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved, and your household.

The Seat of Sincere Faith.
Psa 51:9  Hide Your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities.
Psa 51:10  Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.

Mat 5:8  Blessed are the pure in heart! For they shall see God.
