The meaning of JESUS.
Jesus G2424 Ἰησοῦς Iēsous (Hebrew Yeshua)Thayer Definition:
Jesus = “Jehovah is salvation”
1) Jesus, the Son of God, the Saviour of mankind, God incarnate
2) Jesus Barabbas was the captive robber whom the Jews begged Pilate to release instead of Christ
3) Joshua was the famous captain of the Israelites, Moses’ successor (Act_7:45, Heb_4:8)

Act 4:12 And there is salvation in no other One; for there is no other name under Heaven given among men by which we must be saved.
Introduction.
The OT teaches that God Himself is THE SOURCE OF THEIR SALVATION. He alone is Israel's Saviour and Deliverer.
He delivered His people from the Bondage of Egypt and they forever after knew by experience that He was their only Saviour.
Psa 106:21 They forgot God, their Saviour, who had done great things in Egypt,
Psa 106:22 wondrous works in the land of Ham, and awesome deeds by the Red Sea.
Isa 43:3 For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour. I give Egypt as your ransom, Cush and Seba in exchange for you.
Isa 43:11 I, I am the LORD, and besides me there is no saviour.
Isa 45:15 Truly, you are a God who hides himself, O God of Israel, the Saviour.
Isa 45:22 "Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.
Jer 14:8 O you hope of Israel, its Saviour in time of trouble, why should you be like a stranger in the land, like a traveler who turns aside to tarry for a night?
Jer 14:9 Why should you be like a man confused, like a mighty warrior who cannot save? Yet you, O LORD, are in the midst of us, and we are called by your name; do not leave us."
God acted through agents.
We read of His saving Israel through the mysterious agent, “the Angel of His presence”.
Isa 63:9 In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the Angel of His Presence saved them; in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old.
Isa 63:10 But they rebelled and grieved his Holy Spirit
At other times human agents were used; Moses was sent to deliver Israel from slavery in Egypt. At other times God raised up Judges to succour them such as Gideon. (To bring help and assistance especially in a time of trouble). <the freedictionary.com>
God sent forth His Son to be our Saviour.
Gal 4:4 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law,
Gal 4:5 to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.

Them that were under the law - Sinners, who had violated the Law, and who were exposed to its dread penalty.
That we might receive the adoption of sons - Be adopted as the sons or the children of God; see Joh_1:12, note; Rom_8:15, note.
When Jesus entered the World at the Virgin Birth he was given the Name Jesus which was the name expressive of His Divine Mission. “You shall call His name Jesus, for He shall save His people from their sins.” Matt 1:21
The Jews already knew the meaning of Jesus (Yeshua) from their own History.
Act 3:25 "You are the heirs of the Prophets, and of the Covenant which God made with your forefathers when He said to Abraham, 'AND THROUGH YOUR POSTERITY ALL THE FAMILIES OF THE WORLD SHALL BE BLESSED.'
Act 3:26 It is to you first that God, after raising His Servant from the grave, has sent Him to bless you, by causing every one of you to turn from your wickedness."
Act 13:23 "It is from among David's descendants that God, in fulfilment of His promise, has raised up a Saviour for Israel, even Jesus.
They understood the Gospel message that as God had sent Moses to deliver Israel from Egyptian Bondage so he sent Jesus to deliver His People from their sins. They understood but in their pride they refused to believe trusting in their own efforts.
Upon the Cross of Calvary Christ fulfilled the mission indicated by His Name. To save people from their sins implies atonement and atonement implies death.In His Lifetime, He was always The Saviour. Mary Magdalene could say, “I was bound by seven devils but Jesus Delivered me.” The Paralytic could saw “He forgave me all my sins and healed me”.

Do you know Jesus as your own personal Saviour? Once when my brother, Robbie, and I were swimming at Scott’s Point Redcliffe Qld., my brother had to be saved as he got off his car-tube in water over his head. Amazingly, I realised in time. I was about 9years old and He was four. My Brother knows he was saved from certain drowning. DO YOU KNOW YOU HAVE BEEN SAVED BY JESUS?
Believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is your Lord and Master and you will be saved. Romans 10 :9-10
